Stoggles is an innovative eyewear brand that brings design and style to safety goggles. Born out of the pandemic to bring PPE to healthcare practitioners and consumers alike, the company offers a line of prescription lens-friendly options in several styles and colors that all block out blue light, wind, dust, pollen, sand, UV rays, and more.
Stoggles distribute exclusively through their website – a smart move to cut out added cost and own their audience. The company ran two successful campaigns on Indigogo to launch the brand and initial production, raising over $4M. They had one problem however – they didn’t own Stoggles.com. Which is quite an issue, especially when you count on building a strong brand and not relying on third parties. The brand used the wearstoggles.com domain as a compromise solution, while working on securing Stoggles.com. Buying a domain name that’s already owned by someone is not an easy task. It is even harder when that someone is trying to profit from your brand in the meantime, as it happened to be the case with this brand. The owner of the name was using a copycat website to sell lookalike products on amazon. Ouch.
Luckily Stoggles CEO, Max Greenberg, didn’t give up and worked hard on securing the best domain name for his brand.
Securing the stoggles.com domain was a hugely important step for our business. We’ve had wearstoggles.com, which just doesn’t hold the same brand power.
Operating through stoggles.com helps us to reach more people and follow our purpose of inspiring the importance of everyday eye protection through innovative and seamless design.
Max Greenberg, CEO
Today you can find the brand on Stoggles.com. Oh, and they recently raised $40M in a growth round let by The Chernin Group. The team plans on expanding their product offering and securing their stake in the ground as the go-to protective eyewear company.
