StepSecurity Raises $3 Million in Seed Funding and Upgrades to StepSecurity.com
By Monica Stankova access_time 2 min read

StepSecurity, a company specialising in protecting CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure, raised $3 million in seed funding. The round was led by Runtime Ventures and saw contributions from Inner Loop Capital, SaaS Ventures, DeVC, and other investors. Over 3,000 open-source projects, including those from entities like Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Microsoft, and Google, use StepSecurity to secure their CI/CD pipelines.

Enterprises typically have robust application and cloud security solutions. However, CI/CD, the crucial link between these two environments, remains unprotected. We analyzed past CI/CD security breaches and built our platform using a first-principles approach.

In addition to the funding, the company appears to have secured its Exact Brand March (EBM) domain name StepSecurity.com, which redirects to StepSecurity.io. While the .io domain is popular within tech circles, it doesn’t always offer the same level of recognition or credibility as the more established .com extension. The extension is actually a country code top-level domain (ccTLD) assigned to the British Indian Ocean Territory and can pose certain risks and limitations as businesses expand.

Securing a .com domain matching their brand name is an intuitive choice for users looking for StepSecurity online, boosting visibility and protecting their brand identity.
