Aide.app Boosts Credibility with Upgrade to Aide.com

Toronto-based company, Aide, was founded in 2020 with a mission to use artificial intelligence to automate customer support and improve satisfaction through the analysis of customer conversations. Originally launching on the .app domain, Aide upgraded to the memorable Aide.com in May 2022. The brand name, Aide, is French for “help”, a fitting title for a business that aims to assist its clients.

The .app domain extension is a new top-level domain (TLD) that is specifically intended for use with mobile applications. It was created to make it easier for users to identify mobile apps on the web, and to give developers and businesses a more secure and recognizable platform for hosting their mobile apps. It is managed by Google, and is the first TLD to require HTTPS encryption by default. 

There are a few reasons why a company might start with a compromised domain name and later upgrade to an exact brand match (EBM) domain. The desired EBM domain name may not have been available at the time of registration, or the company may not have had the budget to purchase it upfront. It may also have wanted to test the market before committing to a more expensive domain name. 

Upgrading to a .com domain exactly matching the brand name can improve brand recognition and credibility. While it is unknown why Aide initially chose the .app extension, the upgrade to Aide.com suggests that the company plans to continue growing and expanding. This move was followed by a Pre Seed funding round in which Aide raised an undisclosed amount from Farhan Thawar and seven other investors.
