Names with stories: The story behind Visualneed.com
By Kristina Mišić access_time 6 min read

David Neimer from Visualneed talks about the origin of the brand name, why they picked Visualneed.com as a domain name, and their future plans.

What is the story behind Visualneed?

The story of Visualneed is the story behind my passion for art and design. I started painting at a very young age and fell in love with the craft. I had always had a strong drive to create – first for myself, and then for other people and businesses. My mom tells me that during my first years of painting I kept telling her that I’ll be a car designer when I grow up. Years went passed and I think I made it – but not exactly how I expected things to develop… I design different kinds of vehicles: social vehicles, money-making vehicles – that help many businesses around the world achieve success and give great service to many customers.

When did you start thinking about your brand name and how did you settle on Visualneed?

Actually, I’ve been thinking about the right name from my first day of business and finding the right fit really wasn’t easy. Thankfully, a few years ago I finally found the right one. I’d say that the name comes from my experience in the field.

You see, I have been designing for over 9 years now – and my favorite thing to do is to bring my client’s dreams into reality. And what can be a better way to do it than to visually design their thoughts into existence? The truth is that every person has a visual need. We want to express ourselves in a way that’s really easy to understand – but unfortunately mostly fail to do so. This is why I use my skills to fulfill these needs – and this is where the name comes from.

What was the reason to get the domain name Visualneed.com for your brand?

I wanted a domain that would be an extension of the brand I’m building, so I wanted them to be the same. Also, I believe that a “.com” gives my domain more power and credibility, in addition to the positive impact on the search engine results.

How has owning Visualneed.com affected your business? Do you own any other domain names?

Having a powerful and understandable domain is priceless in my opinion. It gives me so much credibility, both in people who understand marketing and those who don’t. It’s part of my brand, it’s the address to my most important visit card – and it is also how I gain new loyal and trusting customers in my business.

What would you do differently if you were entering your category market as a brand today?

If I were to enter my category market as a brand today I would have definitely acted a little bit like a detective! And by that, I mean that I’d research the best brands in my market and borrow some of their great ideas. If they do something that works – I want to learn from them ASAP. This technique is so effective I have no doubt that if I had to start over today – I’d be back where I am now in no time.

Why should entrepreneurs value their brand?

That’s a great question because too many entrepreneurs don’t value their brands enough! It’s important because a brand isn’t what I tell or show to people – it’s about what people feel and say about you. If an entrepreneur wants to grow their business he needs its image to be as positive as possible.

Has the pandemic affected your company in any way? What has changed since?

Although the pandemic has hurt many businesses (including some of my oldest clients) – I didn’t feel its impact just as much. At an age where more and more people compete in the digital space – I was many times the first person they would talk to in order to “up their gear for the coming battle”.

What do you do to make sure your marketing is effective?

Mostly I make sure to learn every day and not get rusty. Reason for it being that this field is constantly changing so it requires testing all the time. This is why I try to implement new effective marketing methods into my work as well as sticking to what has worked for many years.

What would your advice be to entrepreneurs who are just starting out, in general, and when it comes to branding and naming?

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. In all of my years in the design and marketing field, I have changed many names until I came with something I really feel comfortable with. For you it might happen with the first name – and maybe you’ll have to try several others before you settle. Generally, I’d advise you to be prepared to change the things you generally feel uncomfortable about your business.

Where do you see your business in the future and how does your brand name fit into that vision?

That’s a great question! I want to help more brave and revolutionary businesses make a positive impact on people’s lives. This is why in the following years I’ll be expanding and recruiting new talented people to make it a reality. My brand name fits it seamlessly because we will keep fulfilling more and more visual needs for more and more great people.
