To get a deeper insight into the story behind Broomees we talked with Vaibhav Agrawal. He is the Founder and CEO of Broomees, an online platform connects clients with trained and experienced helpers in a variety of fields.

Our mission and resolve is to bring to our customers – trained, experienced, and pandemic ready conquerors.

Broomees

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how Broomees got started?

Saurav and I (Vaibhav) are mechanical engineers from The Delhi College of Engineering. Of course, we didn’t continue with our engineering jobs and started our own NGO back in 2018. We were interacting with low-income group families in the slums of New Delhi when we saw the extent of unemployment that exists in India. We were educating the young kids in those slums and making sure they all reach a government-funded school.

Cut to 2020, Covid-19 hit the world and hit these people pretty badly. With no access to healthcare facilities and absolutely no job opportunities, these people were clueless about their future. And so were we. I was going to leave for my MBA in Hyderabad (ISB) with my (now) co-founder, Niharika. The two of us had booked our flights and paid the college fee when we decided just to drop out when we got this one call from Saurav. All he said was – ‘it’s now or never.’

What was the process of selecting a brand name like? When did you know this was the one?

The process was fairly lengthy. We kept coming up with names, some full of meaning while others completely meaningless. Our job was not just to get homes functional and cleaned, it was also our objective to broom away the customer’s headache, with ease. That’s how Broomees happened!

What was the reason to get the domain name Broomees.com for your brand?

Because Broomease seems tough to remember as a customer!

What was the vision and purpose of your company when it first started and how has Broomees evolved as a brand since?

The vision was always clear – to train and uplift 100,000+ workers in India and get them health insurance, well paying jobs, fair working hours, shift them to a formal economy with an upward career trajectory.

Has the pandemic affected your company in any way? What has changed since?

It was the reason we started, and it’s only been upwards from that time! The situation demands for a company like ours, from supply as well as demand side.

What do you do to make sure your marketing is effective?

Nothing really, as the problem is so huge that people come to us on their own. We run very small instagram promos but that’s about it.

What would your advice be to entrepreneurs who are just starting out?

I would advise them to believe in what they are building and not get swayed from their end goals by smaller distractions in life – personal or professional.

Also, keep in mind that your product or service is actually required – you do not want to be a company that forces itself on its users.

What is next for Broomees?

We’re going to cover the entire Delhi and NCR region of India by end of 2022 and raise our Series A round of funding.

Last thing, if some of our readers have more questions. Where can they reach you online?
