Founded in 2020, San Francisco-based voice messaging startup Mote started when the Co-founders Will Jackson and Alex Nuneswith saw the need for better tools to help remote teams communicate efficiently and with empathy. They were convinced that voice messaging was the solution. The platform celebrated 1 million weekly users, Gmail integration and a funding boost in March 2021.
Mote’s users have found voice messaging is a faster and friendlier alternative to typing: remote workers, collaborators and educators around the world report that talking instead of typing leads to significant time savings and better communication.

Mote’s users include K12 educators, College students and professors, remote teams and many organizations seeking an alternative to typing. More than 10,000 schools in 170 countries and all 50 U.S. states have implemented Mote’s technology.
At the very beginning, the company decided to use a not-so-great solution for its brand – the domain name JustMote.me. The .me domain is a very young domain – the country-specific top-level domain belongs to Montenegro and has only been available since the independence of the country in 2007.
According to WHOIS history, the domain name Mote.com moved to a GoDaddy account under WHOIS privacy in mid-April, 2021. The startup officially confirmed they’re moving to the EBM (Exact Brand Match) domain Mote.com in a tweet on July 7th, 2021. As you can see, their users are really excited about this domain upgrade.
We hope the above information will help you in making informed decisions about your brand. If you want to say hi or have any questions about naming, branding, and domain names get in touch, we’re always happy to hear from you.
