Global SaaS Logistics Leader Stamps.com Becomes Auctane
By SmartBranding Team access_time 2 min read

Five months after being acquired by  Thoma Bravo for $6.6 billion in cash, the e-commerce postage company Stamps.com Inc announced that it will adopt “Auctane” as its new corporate name.

Stamps.com is a leader in commerce fulfillment software. Founded in 1996, Stamps.com was one of the first companies to offer postage online, allowing users to print official Postal Service stamps and shipping labels for a monthly fee of $17.99.

The company went public in June 1999. As package shipment and e-commerce sales boomed amid the pandemic, Stamps.com saw earnings jump 33%, bringing in $758 million in fiscal 2020.

When Stamps.com launched, we set out to solve a specific problem. While Stamps.com remains a growing product with incredible impact, over time, our other products have become market leaders as well. Our e-commerce focused products, including ShipStation, ShipEngine, Metapack, and ShippingEasy, have become household names in commerce around the globe. With our increased impact, the Stamps.com name is no longer a broad enough umbrella to fully encompass our mission.

Nathan Jones, CEO of Auctane

Stamps.com will continue to operate as a leading brand within the Auctane corporate family. Choosing a name for a portfolio of brands is becoming a common move from global companies that want to disassociate their corporate side from the individual brands, as well as avoid the limitations a particular brand name can impose.

Auctane brands will now include Stamps.com, Endicia, ShipStation, ShippingEasy, ShipWorks, ShipEngine, Shipsi, GlobalPost, and Metapack, with offices in El Segundo, Austin, London, Sunnyvale, Zielona Gora, Atlanta, and St. Louis. The company has secured the exact brand match Auctane.com, all of its other brands also operate on .com domains exactly matching the brand’s name.
