LinkTree, a tool that allows you to build a microsite that houses your digital presence all under one link, was created in 2016 when brothers Alex and Anthony Zaccaria teamed up with their friend, Nick Humphreys, and the site was created in six hours. They had no clue that LinkTree would grow into a platform with a much bigger vision.
The company decided to use the domain hack, LinkTr․ee. After raising $45 million in Series B funding in March 2021, LinkTree finally upgraded its domain name from LinkTr․ee to the EBM (Exact Brand Match) domain LinkTree.com.
We’ll continue building a product that our users love. This capital raise helps us move faster, think bigger and go further.
Alex Zaccaria, Co-founder and CEO of Linktree
Alex Zaccaria also said that about 4 million users, or roughly a third of its community, signed up within the last three months. According to this Forbes article, it now averages around 32,000 signups a day, a 300% year-over-year increase compared to March 2020.
