From Lovable.dev to Lovable.com: Closing the Most Obvious Gap
By Tsani Gramatikova access_time 4 min read

Lovable has built an AI software creation platform around a simple idea: users describe what they want to create, and the platform turns those instructions into working software. Since launching in November 2024, more than 60 million projects have been created with Lovable, while apps built on the platform receive more than 900 million visits each month. In August 2026, the company raised $400 million at a $13.3 billion valuation, placing the brand firmly among Europe’s fastest growing technology companies.

Yet one part of the company’s digital identity kept attracting attention. Lovable operated on Lovable.dev, while the Exact Brand Match (EBM) domain Lovable.com belonged elsewhere.

When users start pointing out the obvious

The mismatch had become visible enough for users to comment on it publicly. One post on X paired Lovable’s $13.3 billion valuation with a simple observation: Lovable.com still wasn’t theirs.

Lovable turned that comment into the announcement.

The company’s domain upgrade announcement video opens with the criticism itself, using the audience’s observation as the setup for the reveal. The generated response references the underwear business previously hosted on Lovable.com and notes that the store is still online at a different address. The final scene returns to the original X post, where Lovable answers with a two-word reply: “Look again”.

The accompanying post needed even less explanation:

lovable.dev → lovable.com

For a domain acquisition, the format was unusually effective. Users had already identified the gap between the scale of the company and its digital address, so Lovable allowed the audience to make the case before revealing that the problem had been solved.

Lovable.dev made sense for the first chapter

The .dev extension suited the product Lovable originally brought to market. Software creation sat at the center of the proposition, and a developer associated extension reinforced the category immediately.

Lovable’s scope has since expanded well beyond its initial positioning. The company now describes its ambition as becoming the place where people can build and run their businesses, with tools covering payments, discoverability, integrations, security, governance and day to day operations. Nearly eight in ten surveyed users are building a business or side project they hope to monetize, while established companies including Adidas, NVIDIA and Deutsche Telekom use Lovable for internal software and critical workflows.

A domain name closely associated with development becomes more specific as the company itself becomes broader. Lovable.com gives the brand room to cover software creation, business operations, enterprise adoption and whatever categories come next without tying the name to one technical function.

The EBM domain catches up with the scale of the brand

Moving to Lovable.com also creates a direct relationship between the company name and the place users expect to find it.

Exact Brand Match domains become increasingly valuable as awareness grows because every mention of the company can translate naturally into direct navigation. Someone hearing “Lovable” in a meeting, podcast, investor conversation or recommendation no longer needs to remember that the company uses a different extension.

For an early company, the distinction can be easy to tolerate. At Lovable’s current scale, the number of interactions around the brand changes the calculation. More users, enterprise customers, partners, employees and media references mean more occasions where recall and direct access matter.

The upgrade therefore follows the growth of the business. Lovable recently stated that nearly two thirds of Fortune 500 companies now have employees using the platform, while its latest funding round is intended to support a much broader global business. A domain with the same breadth as the brand fits that direction.

What founders can take from the move

Lovable.dev supported a company centered on making software creation accessible. Lovable.com now supports a company whose stated ambition extends to helping people create, operate and grow entire businesses.

The distinction matters because domain strategy changes as companies grow. A domain that fits the product at launch may become narrower than the company built around it, while increasing brand recognition makes the Exact Brand Match domain progressively more useful across direct traffic, referrals, sales, hiring and international expansion.

Lovable’s announcement captured that progression in thirty seven seconds. The audience pointed out the missing piece, the company secured it, and the brand moved from Lovable.dev to Lovable.com.

Sometimes the strongest case for a domain upgrade is already being made by the people trying to find you.
